Hi Tony – We have been having an issue with registrations. We have a class that is limited in space say 10. And we send out an email blast and we get say 30 people trying to sign up. However, we realized that we have some registrations marked “incomplete” that take up an open spot. I am assuming incomplete would be its still in the cart or the payment processing isn’t finished etc… what is the best way to handle this… should we have a large waitlist so people can still “sign up” at the time when the system thinks its full but actually isn’t and roll those folks over? AND can we manually control the waitlist? Meaning if we have certain reasons to allow #5 in over #1 can we handle the waitlist manually in that way? Sorry for the multiple questions. Thanks! |

Hi Matt,
Where do you see those different values? They sound like they should be the same thing but I’m not sure.
How many of those registration take up spaces and for how long? They should be held for the duration of the users session, which by default is 1 hour, after that there is a cron job that runs to clear the reservation and open the space again. So if that’s not happening then it may show an issue with WP_CRON on the site.
I can’t give you the ‘best’ answer until we know what the problem above is 🙂 However, to answer your waitlist question, yes you could use a larger waitlist and yes you can manually control the waitlist reservations by setting the ‘Auto Promote Registrants?’ option to Yes and then set ‘Manually Controlled Spaces’ to a higher value than 0, whatever you set is the number of spaces on the waitlist you can manually control, set it to match the ‘Wait List Spaces’ value to manually manage them all. |

Yes – sometimes those values show different numbers at different times. Maybe if you can clarify their purpose and what each means. If they should both always show the same number then why have 2 next to each other. They must be different in some way. So I think the issue is happening with the timing of the CRON. Since it doesn’t happen in real time. Sometimes our classes/events are limited to say 10. and when we send an email blast out we get flooded with say 30 trying to get a spot. Is expanding and manually controlling the waitlist the best way to handle this? Thank you so much! |

Which 2 values are you referring to here? I don’t know anywhere in Event Espresso that has RSVD and RSVD SPOTS? The event editor has ‘Sold’, ‘Rvrd’ and ‘Regs’, is that what you mean?
Yes, you’ll struggle to manage this any other way as everyone scrambles to get a ticket. |
