There are several places to change the default emails:
1) General Settings – here you can change the emails and these will be across all events.
2) Email Manager – here you can set emails and then choose them within specific events, so the emails are not for every event but can be used for multiple events
3) Within the event itself – this only affects the individual event.
EE uses the WP_Mail function to send emails so I don’t see why not.
However it is not something we officially support, nor have tested.
