Hello, I am currently looking to do a few things with my event espresso usage. This may be a bit lengthy so please bear with me. A. I need to renew soon as I want to get the discount. However I have questions before I do so. 1. I currently have EE3 and would like to go to 4. However I originally bought 4 and it would not do what I needed so I had to go to 3. Here is what i need it to do and you can tell me if 4 is up to speed yet… I will also need to switch my license as the one it’s currently associated with is no longer going to be used. I know this was a lot of questions but as you can imagine EE has pretty much become my most important tool in running my show. I can’t afford to have it screwed up because something I need isn’t ready. |
Hi there, I will provide an answer for each of your questions, however based on the fact they you need recurring events I would not recommend updating to EE4 at this time as it does not support those type of events.
EE4 has the EE4 Events Calendar Add-on for this. It works in a very similar way to the EE3 Calendar.
As mentioned above EE4 does not support recurring events at this time so again you would need to duplicate the event multiple times. For recurring events EE3 is currently the best option.
Yes, you can setup colours for your categories and they will be used within Calendar.
EE4 now has apps available for scanning tickets:
Yes, users can print there tickets using the browser.
EE4 provide more options on the information you request, you can request only a single set of information for all of the registration regardless of the tickets selected. With EE3 you need the registration information at least once for each ticket type when using MER, that can not be disabled at this time.
Event Espresso 4 does migrate most of your data from EE3. It will migrate the events (and the relevant event post data including Venues) and also the registrations/attendees made onto those events. However the email templates will not be migrated over. EE4 uses a completely different system for messages compared to EE3, the data does not transfer over without causing further problems that it would to re-create your email templates. So EE4 will migrate as much data as it can from EE3 to EE4, but not absolutely everything, simply because it can’t as some data just does not apply in EE4. Before migrating the live site we highly recommend creating a development copy of the site and migrating the data there, then you can use that site to confirm if all of your data migrates correctly and see the differences between your EE3 events and EE4. My intention is not to scare you away from EE4 with the above, it is an improvement over EE3 however EE4 is very different from EE4 so its best to confirm that your data does work in the way you expect it to once migrated over. The way to do that is to test away from public view on a development copy of the same data. |

How can I switch mi license from an old non used website to the new one? |
You first make sure you deactivate EE from the old non-used website, then you request a key reset from your account page. |
