September 11, 2023 at 10:23 am Hi there So I went to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Your Organization -> Primary Contact Email and updated that portlandsewing email for a different address. Then I cleared cache both on site and on the server and tried testing again. I STILL got the same error with the portlandsewing email address? Then I went into Messages and checked the email on the Registration approved template and it was correctly sending to the [CO_EMAIL] *Even though I don’t even think the process gets this far since the Registrations aren’t processing. Help! |

September 11, 2023 at 11:09 am I want to note here that I have now changed even the Admin email in Settings to be a different email address. I have no idea where that portlandsewing email is coming from! I have changed all the emails I can think of in the Admin so that email is not used. Can I change this in the database somehow? |
September 11, 2023 at 11:46 am Are you using any custom message templates? |

September 11, 2023 at 11:55 am I am getting an error on our SMTP plugin… it’s not connected to the gmail account it was previously connected to, however that doesn’t exactly explain why I continue to see the gmail in the Registration processing/error. |

September 11, 2023 at 11:57 am We used to have custom templates – we have 0 in use currently. |

September 11, 2023 at 12:06 pm Can you connect or resolve the error with the SMTP plugin? |

Hi Shelly, Once messages have been ‘generated’ they will sit in the message queue waiting/trying to send. So if your messages ran into an error after they were generated with the above email address, they may still be sitting in the queue trying to send with that address. Go to Event Espresso -> Messages. Can you see the message sitting there with the old ‘from’ address trying to send? — Also, if email issues are blocking your registrations that generally means your emails are set to send on the same request. Go to Event Espresso -> Messages -> Settings. Is the ‘Generate and send all messages:’ option set to ‘On same request’? If so, change that to on separate request, that won’t FIX your emails but it should prevent email issues from blocking registrations from finalizing. |

September 12, 2023 at 11:57 am My last test Registration was approved but I got a very weird message that made it seem like it didn’t get approved – which will confuse our students… this is the error I am now seeing after setting up the SMPT plugin (I have NO idea why that email is listed twice). https://portlandfashioninstitute.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/email-error.png The plugin works, I’m able to send the test email from the SMTP Settings>Tools |

September 12, 2023 at 12:04 pm Hold on…. I got it working! |
One of the ‘problems’ within WordPress is a LOT of stuff can be filtered by code to make changes, so its possible the TO field is being set within EE, then filtered by the SMTP plugin to change it again… Or the message template has the shortcode twice, or the email directly entered. In short there’s a bunch of reasons that can happen, we can work through those if you are still having issues.
May I ask what you needed to change?
Sure, but that depends on how you email/mailserver is set up. It IS possible to send email via another domain if things are set up to do so, but generally you would want to use the site’s current domain. |
