We have instances where the person paying for tickets is a member of the site (We’re running Paid Memberships Pro) and instances where the person paying is NOT a member. We also have scenarios where the non-member might be purchasing for a member, or vice versa (We’re dealing with that piece via the “traffic cop” code as mentioned in this thread: https://eventespresso.com/topic/group-registration-errors-if-members-of-the-group-are-already-wp-users/ . We have different ticket prices for members and non-members.
What we’re trying to sort out in this thread is the scenario where the payor (Primary Registrant) is buying tickets for others, and is not attending the event themselves.
Is there a way for the registrant to provide registrant/payor & attendee info in separate forms? Perhaps a checkbox: “Is the ticket for you or someone else?” and if the registrant clicks “no,” an additional set of fields appears asking who it’s for, what’s their email, other details, etc…
Ideally we’d be able to do group purchases where the payor is not an attendee either, but perhaps that’s additional complexity? Not sure, but would love help on this.
In short, EE does not currently support separating the ‘purchaser/payor’ from the primary registrant.
It is possible to setup EE to capture additional details (say a question group for the purchaser containing name, email etc) and then set up the EE message templates to use those values for the emails but its more of a workaround.
The problem is that you would need to set this on the event, so all registrations would need to enter ‘purchaser’ details so that they receive the confirmation emails, will that work for you?
This might work. We’ll need to discuss and potentially run a couple of test scenarios. Thanks!
