Just moved Event Espresso from a development domain where it worked fine, but now when the submit button is clicked is reverting back to event listings page where [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] tag is. All other shortcodes are working fine, just this problem with the submit button.

Am not experienced with scripting, so not sure if this is a conflict with Javascript or not?!

Any advice much appreciated.

Currently running:
Wordpress version 3.5.1
Event Espresso v3.1.30.7.P
Social Media v1.1.4
Events Calendar v2.0.4

Hi Neil,

I’ve seen this happen before after a site has been moved. I tried to view the page you linked to but it is behind a maintenance mode plugin. I’m pretty sure it is not a JavaScript issue though.

Is it possible to take the maintenance mode option down so we can take a look at it?

Also, what’s the WordPress theme, and is the registration page set to use https?

Thanks for getting back to me, Josh.

The maintenance mode plugin has now been turned off. I don’t think the registration page is set to use https – is there an option where I could have set this?

The theme is a child theme, built on Twenty Twelve.

Hi Neil,

It doesn’t look like anything is redirecting to https, which is fine if you’re taking payments off-site. And the theme should be fine.

In this case, I would try creating a new top level page and give it a new name like workshop signup, it can be anything as long as it doesn’t have the slug “workshops”. You can place the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode on this page, and set it to be the main registration page in Event Espresso>General Settings.

If this fixes the issue, you’ll likely want to place it in the site’s menu navigation under “training”. You can slide the new page into the right spot using the WordPress menu manager. It will nest in the menu under training, but it will still be a top level WordPress page.

Should I remove the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode from the Workshops page where it currently is?
Just adding the new page hasn’t fixed the problem!

Hi Neil,

You could, and you’ll also want to make sure that the main registration page setting gets pointed to your new page.

One more thing that you can try: You can go to WP > Settings >Permalinks and save the settings there to flush the rewrite rules.

Hi Josh,
Have tried everything you’ve suggested but still getting sent back to Workshop Signup page, which has the [ESPRESSO_EVENTS] shortcode when I hit submit on an event registration page!

Any more suggestions?

Hi Neil,

Can you check the WordPress settings in Settings>General for the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) settings. Are the two settings there the same or are they different?

Both the same – http://www.training-n-promo.com

The registration form is missing some hidden fields. Can you try renaming the folder wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates to wp-content/uploads/espresso/old-templates?
That should revert you back to the default templates and restore the hidden fields.

Thanks for your help, Sidney.
That appears to have worked, but I had amended the templates to my site requirements. Am I still able to change the order of data and remove unwanted titles and upload the amended files to wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates as before?

@Neil

Yes, but you will need to update your template files based on the updated templates in /wp-content/plugins/event-espresso/templates/ (e.g. port your changes over to the new templates).
