Sometimes when people try to register, it goes into reserve and does not allow them to complete the registration. It happens sometimes, but not others.

Also, I realize this happens after I delete a registration and open up the spot for someone else to register. If that helps in discovery.

Hi,

That would likely be the case where someone else is registering for that last ticket at the same time. Which is expected since the reservation system only shows that notification when there’s no more tickets available. This prevents overselling.

I doubt that is the case as this event has been up for a while and it’s actually noted as being sold out, so it would not have multiple people signing up at the same time. Basically this happens when an event is initially sold out, but then I trash a registration which opens up a spot. Then for some reason when people try and register this happens.

May I ask what exactly happens? For example what’s the error message they see and at what point do they see that message?

They don’t see an error message it just does not proceed in the registration process. Try to register for the following and see what happens.

What happens for me is it proceeds to the registration form. Here’s a screenshot:

I started, how far into the process do I need to go in order to replicate the issue?

Just with this registration form and then it goes into reserve.

Hi Erin,

I’ve just completed a full registration on that event and selected check. The registration worked as expected and is now Approved (feel free to delete that registration).

The screenshot Josh showed above shows the registration form, but you can’t get to that point if the last available ticket is reserved so all seems to be working as we expected currently.

Can you provide more details on what the problem is?

You’ve mentioned ‘it goes it reserve’ and by that, I’m assuming you mean the last available space is showing in the ‘Rsrvd’ column of the ticket/datetime, is that right?

If so, it’s normal for a registration to reserve a ticket and it won’t allow any additional registrations whilst that ticket is reserved if it’s the last ticket. A quick explanation of what happens is when someone selects a ticket (be it 1 or multiple) those tickets are placed on reserve for the duration of the user’s session (which by default is 1 hour), this prevents overselling of tickets if 2 users try to purchase the last time at the same time. Once the users session expires, if they haven’t completed the registration the reserved ticket will be released again and someone else can start a registration, which again, reserves that ticket for that user’s session and so on until its sold.

Thanks for all the support and of course it didn’t happen again. I’ll keep an eye out again if this happens as I manage 2 different sites and it seems to occur after the event is full and then I delete a registration. I will reach out with more specifics if it happens again on either site.
