Registration Not Updating After PayPal Payment

Hey Guys!

I did the latest update (Version 4.7.4.p) but now I’m having several instances where Registration is no longer updating to Approved and Transaction Complete once payment was made through PayPal. Some of my customers are repeating the payment process so it’s causing an issue. I haven’t updated anything other than what was sent down, etc… so just wondering if there were still issues with this?

Here’s the actual error… sorry for the multiple posts but I’m just seeing these things…

IPN Validation failed! Paypal responded with ‘ Internal Server Error Internal Server Error – Read The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Hi Tammy, an internal server error means that PayPal had trouble communicating with your site while trying to update the payment status.

Can you recall any recent changes to your site other than updating to the latest software?

PayPal also has an IPN history option that lets you see IPNs that have been sent. Could you take a look at the recent ones and check to see if they can be resent?

I am also now having this exact same issue as of just last night – and hasn’t ever been a problem before. No updates have been made to software on our end. My Paypal IPN history shows that the registration in question has been sent, but Event Espresso has not updated the record as paid. I can address this one manually, but I am hoping for a better fix soon before we get more of these.

We’re looking into this. It appears to be an issue at PayPal’s end. We’re looking to come up with a workaround and if we do, we’ll post more information here.

Thanks guys! The only updates I’ve performed have been for EE4. Nothing else since we’re so close to the event. I’ll keep an eye out for the fix ๐Ÿ˜‰

It took us, and other none EE developers, by surprise but hopefully we can get a workaround resolved soon.

I think Paypal must have fixed the problem – magically IPN’s are now starting to go through.
