For free events, we have used the message Registration Approved. For paying events, we use Payment Received.
Today I set up an event that has both registration types and tested a registration. I received both emails. Is there a way to set it up for payees received Payment Received and free reg receives Registration Approved messages but not both? Thanks!
The short answer to your question is no, the ‘Registration Approved’ message type is intended as what many refer to as the ‘confirmation email’ (meaning your registration is confirmed) and the payment received email is intended as a simple payment acknowledgement. So separating them out for specific ticket types isn’t supported currently.
Technically a registration can have multiple partial payments, all of which (for a general use case) would not trigger a registration approved/confirmation email but should trigger a payment receive email until all monies are paid and then trigger the registration approved email.
Sure, although personally I wouldn’t disable payment received message (if using it as intended by EE) but it’s up to you.
All registrations are set to ‘Approved’ once the monies owed == amount paid. If that’s a free ticket then monies owed = 0 and amount owed = 0, meaning they both match so the registration is approved in the same way a paid registration would and the ‘Registration Approved’ message is triggered.
So you should use the Registration Approved email for all registrations that you want to send a confirmation email to, payment received is a related messages to confirms specific payment rather than confirm the registration.
