I’m a former EE3 user, but recently purchased EE4 for installation on a new site. I tried installing the old version of EE3, but was getting error messages. I thought perhaps this was due to the version being two years old, or my having let my EE registration lapse. (It’s been two years since my last event.) So I bought EE4, and when it asked during install if I wanted to import info from EE3, I checked no and installed. The new interface is great, I really like the upgrade. Sadly, it’s not working for me.

I set up the event using Paypal Payments Pro, ran it in debug mode, and was able to register successfully. I turned off debug mode, but when I opened my event registration yesterday, all my Paypal pro payments failed. Some of my attendees tried the payment process multiple times, and could see every failed transaction as the emails hit my inbox. Bit of a disaster, really. All of the registrations completed, but none of the payments, and I need some help sorting this out.

Quick question about how Paypal API works. Is the domain in the user name important? My API name is user_ap1.myolddomain.com. Does it matter that the API is not being used on the domain in the user name?

Hi Brenda,

I think you’re on the right track to check the API creds. When you turned off debug mode, did you replace the sandbox API credentials with live API credentials on the Event Espresso > Payment Methods settings page?

Yes, I did that. My next course of action was to get on the phone with Paypal and find out if my Payments Pro was switched on and working. It lloks like it’s on, but the api isn’t working, so they’re to investigate and ring me back today with an answer.

Meanwhile, I’ve turned off Payments Pro in favour of Standard for the time being.

Thanks for getting back to me. I’ll keep you posted.
