I have set up a Golf Tournament. I have set up tickets for foursome, twosome and sponsors. The first page of the registration form looks good. I can select foursome and Gold sponsor. But when I click Register, the form comes up and asks me all of the questions for the foursome, the twosome and the sponsors. Even though I selected 2 options. I get questions for 4 options.

Hi there,

I had a quick look over your event and the short answer is your registration questions are set up incorrectly. You currently have ‘Golf Foursome’ question group set up with 4 sets of questions in it and that it set on the primary registrant.

That means that regardless of your ticket selection those questions will always be requested, and just once. What you need to do is split the Golfer questions into an individual ‘Golfer’ group, and then ask that for every registrant.

So as an example you may have a Golfer group containing:

Company
Shirt Size
Individual/Couple.

You then set the ‘Primary Registrant to collect the ‘Personal Information’ and ‘Golder’ Group.

Then with my setup I would also select those 2 same groups for additional registrants.

The sections I’m referring to above are in the event editor and look like this: http://take.ms/1CBvc

With that setup, for every ticket the user selects they will be required to answer the First Name, Last Name, email address, Company, Shirt size, Individual/Couple questions.

Does that make sense so far?

But I don’t want 1 person making a purchase to answer the same questions 4 times. They should give
Their name
Their company
Their shirt size
Then for their guests, they would only add
Guest 1 name
Guest 1 shirt
Guest 2 name
etc

However, that isn’t my problem at the moment.

Right now if I purchase a foursome and a sponsorship, when I get to the registration form it ALSO asks me to fill out info about a TWOSOME.

Ok, so don’t select the ‘Personal Information’ question group for additional registrants. Have only the ‘Golfer’ group selected for them.

Yeah, that looks like the same problem.

I can’t view that link as its based on your session, however, I did visit the event and tested a registration and can see your event questions.

With Event Espresso you set questions on the event, not the tickets within in an event, so when you select any ticket within an event, it asks the questions selected for that event.

You have the option to ask only the ‘Primary Registrant’ those questions, or all registrants. Right now you have both the foursome and twosome question groups set on the primary registrant, so its always going to ask those 2 groups regardless of what ticket selection you make.

So because you created a question group called ‘Foursome’ and selected that on the Primary Registrant, it will always be asked. You’ve then created a ‘Twosome’ group and again selected that on the primary registrant, so again, that will also always be asked on the registration form.

You need to break away from using a question group specifically for the selection you want, you can’t do that with Event Espresso. You need to break out your questions which you only want to ask to ‘additional’ registrants, from the above that looks like:

Guest name
Guest shirt

So they should be in a ‘Golfer’ group (or name it whatever you want), and that would be selected on the ‘Additional Registrants’.
