Hi there,
I’m getting this message when I try to enrol to a new event I’ve just set up on a client site. It’s triggering payments that are appearing in the client’s Stripe dashboard, but the registration in the back end of the site says ‘abandoned’. We use WP Engine for hosting and I have EE on a number of client sites all with this host. These are all fine – so it’s not a hosting issue. Just something has gone wrong with lifeshedcamps.co.uk/forestcamps/ I’ve had to hide the form while we fix this. I have the latest version of EE installed and I’ve checked with WP Engine that this page is excluded from their cache. I can’t think what else to check. Could you help please? I’m worried that this issue is going to start affecting all my other sites using EE!
Many thanks
The ‘Registration could not be completed’ error is a catch-all error that EE throws when there is a fatal error being thrown with no details on that error being passed back for it to display.
So, to find the cause of this we need to know what error is being thrown. If you check the servers error logs can you see any errors from Event Espresso?
(Search for ‘fatal’ and work through those for any from EE)
Ok, so that’s the problem and it means your running the site on PHP8 which Event Espresso is not fully compatible with.
IIRC WPEngine have options to change the current PHP version running on the site, switch the site to use PHP7 (the highest PHP7 version they have) and the above should stop.
If you can’t do it within your Dashboard you’ll need to contact their support team and request they do it for you.
