All of a sudden a few months ago I stopped receiving registration confirmations to my personal email. As my season for Summer Camp Registration began to gear up in March I noticed this. I have checked the forum and all of my information and can not figure out what to do to solve. Now I have customers contacting me saying they are not receiving a notification or acknowledgement regarding their payment and registration. How can I fix this?

Hi there,

Do you have a test event I can register onto so I can trigger emails?

If not, can you create a new event with a free ticket and post a link to the event here so I can take a look? You can set the event to be password protected and just include the password in your reply here, that will prevent users of your site registering onto it.

Also, if you go to Event Espresso -> Messages, you’ll see a list of message within Event Espresso.

What colour ‘status bar’ (the coloured bar to the left of each message) do those messages have?

Password – 622022
Event: Camp Event Test

The status bar is green but I have not received anything and I have several customers who claimed they haven’t received a conformation either.

Hi there,

Apologies for the delayed reply.

So, with Event Espresso showing the emails as sent it means that the email triggered, generated and ‘sent’ without any errors.

EE doesn’t actually ‘send’ emails from itself, what it does it generate the content, set up the email how it should be and then pass it over to a core function call wp_mail() which does some additional checks and then passes the email over to your server to send emails however the server is set to send them.

So it EE shows as a green status bar, all of the above happened as expected and wp_mail() returned true, meaning as far as EE is concerned the email ‘sent’ as expected.

What can happen at that point is an issue with the mail server means the email doesn’t actually send, is marked as spam or even dropped completely.

Do you know how your emails are set up?

Who hosts your email for example? Gmail?

It worked fine for the last several years, then all of a sudden it stopped sending confirmations to my customers and my Gmail account – arlene.kaye11@ gmail.com.
My business email is hosted by Microsoft. I have Microsoft 365 Business Standard. It was renewed on 2/17/22. Please advise where I go from here. Can i speak to a person on your end?

That’s common but for multiple different reasons, as far as I am aware nothing within EE has changed in regards to how emails are handled since the introduction of the messaging system into EE years ago.

My business email is hosted by Microsoft. I have Microsoft 365 Business Standard. It was renewed on 2/17/22.

Has your site ever been set up to send email through your MS account?

For example using a plugin like this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/mail-integration-365/

Which hooks into wp_mail (mentioned above) and sends the emails to Microsofts Mailservers to send rather than using your host’s mail server.

If not, try setting up the above, connect your account and add a test registration/resend an email to an account you control.

Does it work then?
