What might cause the custom template “Registration Approved” to go to attendees for an expired event? We had discovered dozens of these messages in the que to go out for an event that ended back in Sept 2016.
Also, what actually triggers the “Registration Approved” message. Is the status of the attendee? If we have our default status to Payment Pending would this effect various outgoing messages?
The Registration Approved message gets triggered when the registration status is switched from “Pending Payment” to “Approved”. One thing to keep in mind is if there was a problem with sending the emails out initially, they can get stuck in the sending queue and be re-sent later. Later versions of Event Espresso 4 include some additional error-proofing that prevents emails from getting stuck in the queue, so if you have not already done so, you can update to the current version of Event Espresso. Before you do that though, you can remove the messages from the sending queue. Also, it will help to set the Messages to Send on Same request, and that setting is in Event Espresso > Messages > Settings.
