I have created new events (a new term of classes coming up) and when I click “register now” on my events pages, it does not take me to the form page. I was successful with previous events that I created last term. Is there something I did not set correctly on the events form? |
Hi, Have you recently installed any new plugins or made any other changes? Does it work when only Event Espresso is running? — |
|
|
I have not recently installed anything but there were some changes made after I had done the initial event set-up. I know this is probably tmi but here’s what I have currently running on my site (see below). So you see any potential conflicts? Also the events I just created that I am having problems with were ones that I duplicated from last term (same class but just needed to update start dates/fees, etc.). Would that cause problems? wordpress 3.0.3 |
Hi Teresa, On your last events did you use EE3? (I see you are now using EE4) EE4 is a vastly different system to EE3 and actually uses your sites theme to output the event data. Are you using a custom built theme? Can you check something on your events please. Can you edit the event (Event Espresso -> Events -> Edit event) then in the sidebar you should see the option ‘Display Ticket Selector’ – http://take.ms/D1DLa Can you check if that is set to ‘Yes’ please? I also note you are using a rather old version of WordPress (3.0.3 was released almost 4 years ago, December 8 2010) is there a reason you have not updated? The reason I ask is Event Espresso 4 is tested using the latest version of WordPress, we do offer support for a couple of ‘minor’ versions back but you may find EE4 showing some unexpected behaviour on versions that outdated. |

Thanks so much. Ticket selector is ‘yes”. I was using EE4 on my first term of classes and successful registrations (back in Sept/Oct). My web site developer advised against upgrading to WordPress 4 because he was not sure how the site would respond with such a major change. I am using Jupiter theme. |

I sent you an email with some screen shots of my new events that is not linking to the registration form as well as more details on plugins. I suspect the problem is in the way I’ve set up the event… |

email did not go through… how do I upload screen shots? wordpress 3.0.3 EVENT ESPRESSO 3.1.65.5 – NOT ACTIVE here’s some screen shots of one of the offending events: |
Hi Teresa, Event Espresso 4 needs a current version of WordPress to work correctly. If you are unable to update due to your theme, then you would need to continue using Event Espresso 3. Did this issue continue when Event Espresso was the old plugin running? — |

thank you. I just installed the wordpress upgrade to 4 and rebooted my browser and tried to register for an event and the same thing happened. Can I upload some screen shots of my event to this support forum somehow? I suspect that the problem is in the way I have created these events. They were made from duplicates of fall term classes (the same classes are running again just with new start dates and minor ticket changes) |
Hi, Please go ahead and test with only Event Espresso running if you haven’t already done so. If that does not help, then try creating a new test event and then try a registration in another web browser. Let us know what you find and we’ll continue troubleshooting. — |

For screenshots you would need to host the images and then post the links here. I use (and recommend) an app called Monosnap which allows you to selection sections of the screen and will automatically upload and host those images for you. Then you can post here the links that Monosnap generates. |

Thank you. I upgraded to wordpress 4 and all plugins. I then deactivated all plugins except for EE and created a test event and successfully registered for the test event in another browser. I then tried to register for my one of my problem events and the link to the form would not work. Just for fun I reactivated several plugins and tried my test and it worked. I suspect that there must be some problem with how I created these events. They were duplicates from fall term with updated dates and pricing. Here’s some screen shots of one of the events – do you see anything wrong? http://goo.gl/KN9BHP I’m at youthmarimbaworkshop.com thanks for your help |
Hi, could you let us know who your web host is? — |
|

Hi Teresa, So just confirm, on this event: http://youthmarimbaworkshop.com/events/test-november/ You select a ticket qty and click ‘Register Now’, what happens then? For me the page just refreshes. On this event: http://youthmarimbaworkshop.com/events/intermediate-band-duplicate-4/ I see no ticket selector at all. The ticket selector page is throwing a JavaScript error, see: Which looks like is being caused by disqus, can you temporarily disable that plugin so we can re-test please. Also, just to note, many hosting providers have now started blocking base64 enconding on the server, Event Espresso uses this with the ticket selector which may also be causing this. To investigate further you would need to open a support ticket with your host and ask them if they are blocking base64 encoded urls/objects. If they ask for example, simply link them to one of the events with the ticket selector, for example http://youthmarimbaworkshop.com/events/test-november/ |

Thank you! I have 4 current events with ticket selectors (the other you found – intermediate band duplicate – was just an event to populate my calendar): I reactivcated all the plugins last night after I made the tests so perhaps this caused the problem with the test-novemeber. I’ll test again with disqus off. When did the javascript error come up? I will definitely contact host and ask about base64. Teresa |
If you are using Chrome, open up any of those link you just posted, (I used the first) then load up Chrome Dev Tools. (Settings -> More Tools -> Developer Tools) Then go to console. You’ll see the error I posted previously. It is unlikely that is causing this problem, but it is possible as the ticket selector uses JavaScript. |

Thank you. I contacted my host and the problem appears to be resolved. They “modified the mod_sec rule which blocked access to the page” – whatever that means. 🙂 I’ll run some test registrations this evening. Thanks for your help! |
Thanks for updating us on this issue. Let us know how the testing works out. — |
