I’ve tried to change the address format for venues according to the snippets in:
https://eventespresso.com/topic/customize-address-format-for-venue/ and
https://eventespresso.com/topic/address-format-for-venue-is-wrong-for-sweden/
by adding the snippets to my functions.php in my child theme and adapting them for CH (Switzerland) but it doesn’t work. Am I missing something?
P.S. Why don’t you include this on the Country settings page, since most countires have that problem?

It should be Gartenstrasse 1, 5620 Bremgarten. Not Gartenstrasse 1, Bremgarten, 5620.
etc.

Have you set the country within the address of the venue?
The functions you mentioned work by checking the country set on the address and then outputting the format for that country, it doesn’t look like you have the country set so the function doesn’t know to format the address.

For the venue addresses, I only have the choice of US or Canada, so I left that unset. How can I enable Switzerland there? I’ve set Switzerland as my country in the EE Country settings.

Go to Event Espresso -> General Settings -> Countries.
Select Switzerland and the on the left hand side you’ll see an option to enable that country within the dropdown lists, set that to Yes and update.
