hi there,
i’m using 3.1.36.5.P and Recurring Events Manager Addon v1.1.8.

i’d like to have an event showing as a video example on your page here https://eventespresso.com/product/espresso-recurring/ but instead, when i add an event with recurring dates, it creates multiple events.

as an example, i’m trying to add one event with 4 different dates. i create dates manually.

rather than having 4 events created, i’d like to have just one, but with ‘Register Now’ and then date option selection as per the video.

how can i achieve that?

thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,

That setup requires a little bit of file copying.

Via FTP or your control panels file manager, go to plugins/espresso-recurring/recurring-event-templates.

Copy the 2 php files (event_list.php and event_list_display.php) over to /wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates and that’s it, when you reload the page the dropdown style format will appear.

hi Dean,
i’ve done that but unfortunately it still creates 4 separate events opposed to just one.
any ideas?

thanks,
Adam

Hi,

Can you provide a link to your event registration page please so I can see what is/what’s not happening?

hi Dean,
i think i’ve understood that now. i’ve been using grid opposed to the list hence the confusion.

1. can i still achieve the same thing with the grid?
2. please check out this website: https://www.tixbox.com/. would it be possible to have a grid displaying the date and title as per this example and reveal more info on rollover?
3. i’m thinking of perhaps purchasing Table Calendar Template if the grid template won’t work the way i want it to work. however, is there a way to display featured images along the list and also, how would the recurring events be displayed?

thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,

The recurring events manager works by using an event as a template and then creates additional events based on a schedule that is setup.

The grid template shows a featured image and then additional information about the event when you hover over it. Here is an example:

Recurring events are displayed in a similar manner as regular events. The difference would be the event date.

hi Lorenzo,
thanks for your reply. however, it didn’t answer my questions at all.

i didn’t ask how the grid works but whether it’d be possible to tweak it so it displays the date and title similar as it’s on this website https://www.tixbox.com/. at the moment you need to rollover to see more information which is not ideal.

secondly, is it possible to display images on the Table Calendar Template? i mean on the list of events..

thanks,
Adam

Hi,

Not without major modifications to the Grid Template.

2. please check out this website: https://www.tixbox.com/. would it be possible to have a grid displaying the date and title as per this example and reveal more info on rollover?

Possible yes, but again it would require modifications.

3. i’m thinking of perhaps purchasing Table Calendar Template if the grid template won’t work the way i want it to work. however, is there a way to display featured images along the list and also, how would the recurring events be displayed?

Yes, there is a parameter to swap the dates on the right to featured images – screenshot http://take.ms/lSzTb

Sorry, forgot to add, if you need to find a developer to make the customisations, we have a list of recommended ones here: https://eventespresso.com/developers/event-espresso-pros/

hi Dean,
thanks for your reply!

i’d still appreciate if you’d tell how would the Table Calendar Template work with recurring events. would that create 4 separate events or could i have 1 with a drop down to select a date?

thanks,
Adam

Hi,

Right now the Calendar Table doesn’t support grouping of recurring events. I will certainly add a feature request to our list.

ok thanks, i feel like hitting the wall with my project now. i don’t think you’d actually add this feature to EE3 as you’re focusing on EE4 anyway, am i right?

the only solution at the time being i can see is tweaking the list [EVENT_LIST] so it displays an image as well. is that something that can be done easily?

It depends on how confident you are with PHP/HTML/CSS so its hard to say.

Regarding focusing on EE4.

Whilst we are heavily focused on EE4 at this time, we are still actively working on EE3 so there is no reason this would not be included, although as this is more of a enhancement it would be classed as a lower priority (as compared to a bug), so the timescale may not suit your requirements.

You could also use the Custom Template Add-on and build your own template to suit your specific requirements using the Calendar Table Template and the recurring dropdown event list template as examples.
