Hi, the last two payments we received on our website via EE show the attendees as abandoned registration, however we are getting confirmation of payments from paypal. Said differently, the client is checking out, we recieve the money, however EE shows it as the payment hasnt been made. Can I please email you WP login details so you can have a look?

PS, checked my paypal account, all is well, it is a business account (and have received many payments via EE prior to today).

Hi there,

In your PayPal account do you have auto return enabled?

If you check the registration now is the Reg Status Pending Payment and the Transaction status Incomplete?

Hi tony, sorry for delay! currently auto return is set to OFF. You are correct about registration status, it is pending payment and the transaction status incomplete.

Also, just want to make sure it is clear that I haven’t touched anything on paypal side, and we have received dozens of payments via EE and all is well.

PS, bookings via groupon codes that do not require $$ are being confirmed fine.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you edit the registration and look at the transaction for the registration, does it show a payment from PayPal?

Hi Tony;

it shows payment status as incomplete, and I see nothing under “transaction type” or “transaction id”.

Can I send you WP admin access so you can see this?

Hi, could you login to the PayPal account and try resending the PayPal IPNs?

Hi, that option should be available from the IPN history page (overview page).

I see a comment in the paypal community that says “Note: Only “sent” and “failed” IPNs can be resent.”

Thats why I cant resend. Says “retrying” in status.

Alright, could you extend the date to look further in the past? Its set to show results from within the past 24 hours but your support ticket was opened earlier this week.

Hi, the timing for those transactions look like the ones that are missing from your site.

Could you try temporarily deactivating this plugin?

Anti-Malware and Brute-Force Security

I have not used it but it may have some security options that could be blocking the PayPal IPN.

Alright, PayPal will continue trying to send the IPN. If that does not come through, then I would manually update the transactions with the PayPal information.

Hi, I initiated another payment and all went well. THANK YOU.

Is it OK if I turn on auto return and point the user to [ESPRESSO_PAYMENTS] page, will that be fine?

Hi, you can make that change. For the URL, you can use your Event Espresso thank you page.

This is usually:

example.com/thank-you/

If you aren’t sure, then you can check via Event Espresso –> General Settings –> Critical Pages.

There are edit and view links available for each page.

Now that I directed paid clients to /thank-you, it shows payment as incomplete upon forwarding from the paypal screen (I assume it takes a few min to show as complete?) This will likely be very confusing to customers… Any suggestions?

Hi,

Does the status update a few seconds afterwards? For example, you refresh the page and it appears complete?

If so, the simplified transaction template could help:
