Hello! I just got my Event Espresso account up and running last night. Everything was working pretty smoothly, but when I went to register it’s giving me the following error: “This registration step could not be completed. Please refresh the page and try again.” When I refresh, it gives me the confirmation screen. I tried disabling all add-ons except Braintree and that didn’t seem to solve the issue.

Hi there,

We received your priority support request and will look into this now. One thing to be aware of with a Flywheel hosted site is they have server side caching, and you’ll need to make sure all of the pages that handle the registration checkout get served dynamically (not from the cache).

On your site, the registration-checkout page is /?page_id=140 because currently Permalinks are set to Default instead of Postname. Can you check with Flywheel support to see if they’ll deactivate caching for that page and the other pages listed in Event Espresso > General Settings > Critical page settings?

With regards to the email address included in the “Connect with this event” section of the email, that part is using the
[EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] shortcode. The [EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] will use your email address set in WP > Users. So you could either change the email address there, or you could remove the email address shortcode from the message templates, or you can change where the templates have
[EVENT_AUTHOR_EMAIL] to instead have [CO_EMAIL].

Great – thank you. I fixed the email issue and will reach out to Flywheel now. I’ll let you know if that doesn’t fix it.

Flywheel deactivated caching, but the error is still generated when registering.

OK we can activate error logging and we’ll see what we can find.
