We are running version 4.9.81.p and finding messages in the Queued For Generating list and having to manually select for generating and sending. The settings we use is to send on a separate request and wp-cron appears to be running while looking at crontrol plugin. Can you let us know how to determine the issue?

Within WP Crontrol, go to Tools -> Cron Events.

Do you see AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__generation in the cron list?

(whilst the confirm that AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__sending is also in the list)

When did that cron last run? It should be every 5 mins.

No, I don’t see either of these on the list, only these below:

AHEE__EE_Cron_Tasks__clean_up_junk_transactions
AHEE__EE_Cron_Tasks__expired_transaction_check
AHEE__EE_Cron_Tasks__expired_transaction_check (a second one with different argument)
AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__cleanup
AHEE_EE_Cron_Tasks__clean_out_old_gateway_logs

I do see scheduled events appear to be working with those at top of list coming off the top of the list on schedule when I do refresh. So, it does appear cron is running frequently.

What you can do is deactivate, then reactivate the Event Espresso plugin. The AHEE__EE_Messages_Scheduler__sending wp-cron hook will then be restored on plugin activation.

Cron may well be running, but your site apparently doesn’t have the crons set for message generation or sending, so nothing is there to ‘trigger’ messages to generate and send.

The easiest way to have EE regenerate those tasks is to de-activate and then re-activate EE, on activation it runs through all of its checks to confirm various features are setup correctly, crons being one of those.

You won’t lose any data de/reactivating but the downside is that EE add-ons may de-activate when EE core is de-activated and will need to be manually re-activated.

So go to Dashboard -> Plugins

Find Event Espresso in the list and de-activate (Make a note of any active EE add-ons before you do this).

Now activate EE again (and any add-ons that may have de-activated earlier) and recheck the cron events, do you see the above events now?
