I’m looking at a couple of ticketing systems for a website I maintain for a nonprofit.

They hold an annual event, which we sell tickets to. I like the idea of being able to print badges – but have a few questions on this plugin.

1. If a user buys tickets through this plugin – does it use the WP user registration system? I plan to have a “shop” on the same site (to sell t-shirts from the event) and don’t want users that buy a t-shirt in the shop to have to register twice (or vice versa).

2. We want “all” attendees to have a badge. If one user buys 4 tickets … will I be able to configure this plugin to require the names (and email address) of all 4 people? Or will it just print 4 badges in the name of the person that paid for them?

3. What about free tickets for staff? Can I manually added people to the list and send them tickets for free? I don’t want the general public to see a “free” ticket on the registration page and be confused by it (and try to get a free ticket). How does this work?

4. If we sell tickets “offline” can we add those to the system and generate emails with the PDF tickets at later time? If I’m going to use this system, I don’t want to have to print physical tickets as well.

5. Is there a “shop” or “e-commerce” plugin that works well with this plugin?

Thanks!!

Ken

Hi Kenneth,

1. While Event Espresso uses the WP user profile functionality, the user will have separate transactions when purchasing from the shop and then registering for events.

2. Yes. You can require information for all attendees.

3. Yes. This is possible through the Admin dashboard.

4. Yes. This is also possible through the Admin.

Let me know if you have anymore questions. I’ll be happy to answer them.

Thanks Jonathan!

I think I only have 2 questions left.

1. (more of a clarification) So if it uses the WP user profile, I just want to confirm that (as long as the shop plugin also uses the WP user profile) that the user won’t have to register twice with my website (once to buy ticket to event and once to buy t-shirt), right? I under stand that they won’t be able to buy both in the same transaction …. but I think that as long as they login … buy a ticket … and then buy a t-shirt (without having to login again) – that should work.

2. Can you recommend or do you know of any shop/e-commerce plugins that work well with events?

Thanks!

Hi Kenneth,

1. That is correct. Since Event Espresso uses the WordPress User functionality, they will only have to log in one time.

2. There are several great plugins that work well. WP Ecommerce, WooCommerce, etc. Again, they will be separate transactions, but with those, you shouldn’t have any conflicts.
