I am looking at EE for use with a non-profit organzation. the organization has aprox 300 members & holds about 25 events per year. the number of people needed for the event is not known when event registration begins. Members have a sign up period where they can apply for the event. The event admin then selects the number of people needed & confirms the members selected. We also need to be able to track member selection over multiple events so members who were not selected at previous events would be given priority in the selection process. It would be great to be able to integrate EE in with a membership management app. suggestions would be appreciated on membership plugins that work well with EE

Hi Jim,

I would go with Event Espresso 4 for this project.

It has a pre-approval option that will let event administrators approve certain registrations. There is also a contact manager that lets you quickly view a registrations prior events.

What kind of integration are you looking for with a membership plugin?

Need to restrict registrations to only active members. Also need to prevent member from registering more than once for an event. Would like to be able to have members enter their assigned member # from the member database & have it pull their personal info – name, email, etc. Be able to track member activity — ie: events registered; events confirmed, etc

Hi Jim,

Some of that can be done with an addon, some may require custom coding. Lets break it down:

Need to restrict registrations to only active members.

If you use Event Espresso 3, there is an addon called the WP User Integration (also referred to as Members). With this addon active you can block events from being registered for unless the user is logged in.

It might be that your inactive members are still able to log in. If that’s the case, then if you are using S2Member, then we have a small Beta addon that can set what level the member unlock kicks in. That way inactive members could be Level 1, Active members Level 2, and only level 2 or higher will be able to register for events.

Other membership plugins would need a custom coded solution for that.

Also need to prevent member from registering more than once for an event.

We don’t specifically have anything that will do that. I did create a small snippet of code that can alert logged in users if they have registered already, but it wont stop them from re-registering. It could be expanded on though. https://gist.github.com/Apina/f11b5ce2db10f7b3bb93

Would like to be able to have members enter their assigned member # from the member database & have it pull their personal info – name, email, etc.

Depending on what you are looking to use this for, WP User Integration allows members to see previously registered for events and will also pull in their name, email and address into events they wish to register for.

Be able to track member activity — ie: events registered; events confirmed, etc

EE3 doesn’t really handle this type of feature, at least not well. EE4 may do a better job with it, but most of the previous questions aren’t applicable to EE4 yet (we are still making addons and features for EE4).

If you have any further questions, please let us know.
