Hi, this is probably a super simple question, LOL, but, I downloaded the Simple Transaction Page Template because I’m having problems with not getting Paypal payments to update in EE. “Where” do I upload the template? In the wp-content/uploads/espresso/templates folder using FTP?

Hi there,

The simplified transactions page template is a standard theme template, it needs to go in the root directory of your theme (preferably a child theme).

You can then select it within the page templates dropdown when you edit the transactions page.

What problem do you have with PayPal currently? Do all of the payment fail or some?

So the template is an actual theme? I misunderstood, I thought it was just for the transaction page. If did actually try to upload it via the theme page and received an error message. Currently the event site is using a theme so if I use the simple transaction page theme, will it overwrite everything? Or do I just upload it and then select it on that specific page?

Right now the problem I’m having is that payments due go through to Paypal fine but when I see the transactions in EE, they are incomplete, so it appears that Paypal is not talking to EE to update the information. I did check and make sure that the IPN is enabled.

That isn’t what I said 🙂 I think your understanding was correct the first time.

It’s a theme template file, as in a page template file:

https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/template-files-section/page-template-files/page-templates/

Not a full theme, just a single custom template you can select on pages.

Or do I just upload it and then select it on that specific page?

You upload the extracted template into your themes root directory using FTP, like this – http://take.ms/hL2Dd

That’s now installed within the twentyfourteen theme on my site.

It will then show up in the page template section of your site – http://take.ms/ct1ZH

So you set that template for your transactions page.

Ok, great, did that. Question about this page – do the registrants actually “see” it? This is the URL I used for the return IPN in Paypal but there isn’t any text on the page other than “This is the Event Espresso Transactions page. This page receives instant payment notification (IPN) requests and should have a status of published, but should not be easily accessible by site visitors. Do not add it to your website’s navigation menu or link to it from another page. Also, do not delete it or change its status to private.” If registrants see that I’m wondering if I can change the text to something more user friendly. Or should I use a different URL for the Paypal IPN?

Thanks for your help!

The registrants do not actually see the Transactions page. They’re actually returned to the Thank You page. The Transactions Page URL is for the IPN listener script.
