Is there a difference between the quantity of tickets set in event date times list and quantity of tickets. I have different types of tickets available and so have allocated different amount of each in the event tickets. but then this won’t correlate with the quantity Ive set in event date times section. Will it only sell to the amount set in ticket type and just disregard the amount set in event date times? thanks in advance!

Hi there,

I’m not sure why the ticket sales will correlate with the ticket qunaities?

Can you add a screenshot of how you have the tickets/datetimes setup?

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/troubleshooting-checklist/#screenshots

The datetimes within an event are an ‘instance’ of an event.

The total number of ticket sales is set on the datetime itself, the ticket quantities per ticket allow you to set individual ticket sales numbers.

For example, if a datetime has a qty of 10 and that datetime has 3 tickets assigned to it, you may set the ticket qty to 10 for all 3, that means you can sell a combination of 10 tickets from any of those 3 tickets (because the datetime allows 10 tickets).

Another option is you may have 2 gold, 3 silver and 10 bronze tickets (again with a datetime quantity set to 10) and again can you can have any combination of those tickets up to 10.

Thanks Tony, that makes sense. So basically the number fo the totalled different ticket allocation for different types of ticket must add up to the same amount as the total allocation for each session time?
So I have a total of 50 tickets available for each session time but then have an option of buying ticket option A of which there are 14 available and ticket option B of which there are 9 available. So this then works out I guess?
Many thanks

Session being the datetime, right? If so that’s correct.

You can think of datetimes as you event capacity, tickets give access to the event and you can have all kinds of different tickets for a single event (each with their own capacity) but regardless of the number of each specific ticket, you can only sell up to the datetime capacity.

So I have a total of 50 tickets available for each session time but then have an option of buying ticket option A of which there are 14 available and ticket option B of which there are 9 available.

I think you understand the setup correctly, but in that example, you’re going to sell out of tickets before you hit 50 (14+9 = 23) unless you have another ticket.

If you can give me an example of how you want ticket sales to work, how many total sales you want on a single event and the ticket types on the event I can setup an example to show how I would set it up if that’ll help?
