A QR-code is a barcode, its just another type of barcode.
In terms of EE there is very little difference, they do use different values, QR codes can store more values so we use the full identifier in those, Barcodes use a shortened version.
Both will work with the mobile apps just find (so you can use either) however some barcode scanners can’t read QR codes, so we include both should you choose to use a handheld that doesn’t support QR’s.
You can use both or either. The Barcodes are for scanning with Barcode readers via the barcode scanning add-on, and the QR codes are for scanning with QR code scanners via the same add-on. The QR codes can also be scanned using the EE4 mobile apps.
