We just switched from 3 to 4 and I am running into a road-block for a major piece of functionality that we need.
We have an earlybird rate that takes $10 off of our base registration ticket. We have four ticket types that each have add-ons making them different prices. In EE3 we used price modifiers for questions on the main registration ticket that everyone must have to achieve the different prices. Since EE4 doesn’t have that we just had to create multiple tickets and add price modifiers to the ticket.
The problem is there seems to be no way to make a promotion on a per-ticket basis that will expire on a certain date. I don’t want to create a complete new set of tickets with a start sale date and different pricing as that will be confusing to our registrants. I just want a way to have each ticket discounted by $10. The price modifier option doesn’t work because it doesn’t provide an expiration date.

Hi Allen,

Currently with EE4 to do the above you would need to create a new set of tickets.

EE4 allows for early bird discounts by allow the admin to setup start and end dates for each ticket, this allows you to setup discounted tickets for the early bird registrations the end those ticket sales and start regular ticket sales automatically.

If you hide the tickets that are not one sale at the time using CSS your registrants won’t know there are multiple sets of tickets. You can do that using:

.tkt-slctr-tbl-wrap-dv .ticket-pending {
    display: none;
}

We recommend using either the My Custom CSS or Reaktiv CSS Builder plugins to add custom styles such as these.

Ok, I will look into that, although I’m not too knowledgeable about how CSS works.
But from what you are saying this is going to present another issue for us.
There are many times that someone may be registering multiple people that would all be using a promo code. In EE3 the promo code would apply to each ticket/registrant.
How do you achieve this in EE4.
Finally, if there is no way to do this without them having to each do a separate registration, can we move back to EE3…as it seems that there are quite a few more features with that version.

How do you achieve this in EE4?

You can achieve this by using a percentage amount discount promotion.

I’m not sure how that would work for us.
We have 4 ticket prices.
Base Registration $140
Registration/Golf $205
Registration/Room $290
Registration/Golf/Room $355
The promo codes that we give out are only good for registration. So if I used a 7% off code to take approx $10 off…I wouldn’t want 7% coming of of the other ticket prices.
I need to be able to have a $10 (or other amounts as well) code that will only come off of the registration price if they enter the code. And it needs to work with multiple registrations done in a single transaction. This was super easy to set up in EE3.
