We are using the two plugins:
Event Espresso – Promotions (EE 4.9.10+)
Price Modifier For Event Espresso 4
Together it appears to produce a discount on the cart total. Is there a way to only get promotions to act on the event costs? Add one typically will have no discount or a different discount than an event (fixed costs beyond the organizer’s actual control).
Can you suggest a solution to this?

We use add on questions with payment options for those add-ons. It appears as though a % discount applies to the entire cart. We only need it to apply to the event, not the add on question$. An example would be if an event costs $1000 and there were add ons that upped the cart to $3000 then with a 33% CART discount ($1000) we just gave away an event registration, where the intent is a $333 discount. Any thoughts?

Hi ICLE,
Promotions do not currently apply to the cart as a whole, they apply to an event in which that promotion applies to.
For example if you had Event A and Event B in the cart and a applied a promotion that was set to apply to Event A only you would see the discount is applied to the subtotal of Event A, not the cart subtotal. That may not be apparent if you only have a single event in the cart but it’s an important distinction.
I haven’t looked into the Price Modifier Add-on in a while now as it is not an add-on we wrote or provide support for but iirc it’s adding additional line items linked to the event, which means it’s linked to the event subtotal line item (which again, is what we apply promotions to). I don’t think we can easily work around that as it stands.
If you can send me the latest version of the add-on I’ll take a look over it and confirm how it adds price modifier if you prefer? (I can request a copy but it will likely be quicker if you can send me it)
