I have many promos set up and they were working fine! But the promo code area is not showing up when you try to check out.

Hello,
We did looked on your screenshot you gave and we did not see the promo code. We need to be sure that the setup you made is correct.
1. Can you confirm if the Valid From is filled? If it is a future date, you wont be able to see the promo code bar.

I got it to show up! I had not added our new event to the promo. Once I did, the box returned. I do have one more question. The Payment Area does not look right. I have a short message about PayPal that is no longer showing. Do you have any ideas why this area looks funny?

Looks like you’ve changed the directory name at some point so the PayPal image is trying to load from the wrong location.
Go to Event Espresso -> Payment methods -> PayPal Standard.
Look under Button URL and change /event-espresso-core-reg12 to be /event-espresso-core-reg
That will fix the button image.
Then in that same section look for ‘Open by default’, make sure that is set to Yes and Save. That will automatically select the payment method and display the description for you.
Also, PayPal Standard has not been deprecated for a while as it can often be unreliable so I recommend switching over to PayPal Commerce which is now available within core.
