I setup a custom pending payment template. For attendees, there are two custom Q&As instead of Personal Information. The email shows the ticket name & ‘answers’ like this in the Ticket List area:

Ticket Name x1
[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*]

Does the tag not work or am I using it incorrectly? Or should I be using [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*]?

Hi,

Did you add the shortcode like this:

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*]

or like this

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*My Question Goes Here]

The first won’t do anything as there is no question attached to it, the second should show the answer to the question My Question Goes Here.

Also be aware of what Recipient the message is targeting, if you edit the Registrant then the [PRIMARY_REGISTRANT_ANSWER_*] won’t work as it’s intended for the Primary Registrant.

I still can’t get this to wor – I have this in the Ticket List area:
[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_* name], [RECIPIENT_ANSWER_* age]

With the Q & A titled ‘Name’ and ‘Age’.

I can’t begin to tell you how frustrating it is to manage a zillion different messages and not being able to completely overwrite the default messages. As of right now, taking registrations by pen & paper would be easier than using EE.

Here’s the info you provide:

Display Answers to Individual Questions in Your Templates
Add the
[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*] shortcode in a valid location, and use the question display text you are testing. In my case the question was “What color?” so when I added the shortcode it was [RECIPIENT_ANSWER_* What color?] I also prefaced the shortcode with the actual question text so I could tell that I was seeing the right message when I received it.

Note: It is VERY important that your question display text match exactly what the question is.

Based on that, the two questions are in a group called ‘Who’s taking this class?’ with the questions ‘Name’ and ‘Age’.

In the event, this question group is chosen under ‘Questions for Additional Registrants’.

How can I get it to display properly?

And no, my ‘questions’ do not end in questions marks.

Tried Name & Age in both capitalized & uncapitalized forms, with the same results.

Hi,

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_* name] wont work, try

[RECIPIENT_ANSWER_*name]

Note the lack of the space before the question itself, spaces within a question are fine.

You realize that your documentation shows a space, right?

And that doesn’t work either. This is wasting a ton of my time and yours – would it be too much for you to login to our site and see what’s going on? It’s frustrating as hell that it doesn’t work.

Hi, there is something wrong with the shortcode in that particular area so I’ve created a report for our development team to review. I did find that if it was also added to the Event_List area then it started working:

Could you let us know if that works on your end?

I ended up not using that shortcode at all, I used the question list in one of the other fields.

This is resolved, at least from our perspective.

Hi there,

I want to let you know that the issue with the RECIPIENT_ANSWER shortcode is fixed in Event Espresso 4.7.10.p. It’s available as a 1-click update from your WP > Plugins page.
