Can you check the template editor for the Primary Registrant Emails? Those can be opened by going to Event Espresso > Messages > Default Message Templates.
If you find that the templates themselves are empty, you can click on the reset button to reset the template back to the defaults. Please note, if you made edits to the other emails for that context, you can stash those changes in another open tab (or into a text file) and reapply the changes after resetting the templates.
