Hi Craig,

Just to clarify regarding license keys, they are used for support and updates, nothing more.

So yes the above steps are correct, but you then ask how it will take which implies some kind of downtime to me so I’ll explain a little more.

On the current site you go to Event Espresso -> General Settings.

Remove the license key from the field and just save it blank.

That version of EE will continue to function as it does now, but it will not update and we will not provide support for that site any longer.

Then in your EE account page you click the Request reset button, usually, that takes up to 24 hours on a weekday but if you request it on Friday/Weekend it won’t process until Monday (reset requests are reviewed by EE support and we are not available weekends).

Once that has been processed, on the new site you add the key (it will be the same key as it was previously) and it will ‘link’ to your new domain.

That’s it.

Note, you should have no downtime here your basically taking the key off the old site (to stop it ‘relinking’ to that site when its reset) and, requesting a reset and then once processed adding the key to the new site so it’s linked to that site.
