Hi There,

I have a site that sells concert tickets; for us having a user register and then abandon or not complete a transaction ends up generating a ticket for them (though not delivering it) and keeps them in our registration list. Is there a way to have abandoned and/or incomplete transactions automatically purged or not appended to the registration log at all? Basically we’d like the equivalent of “Buy now”, and if you don’t pay, or abandon the transaction, we don’t mind forgetting about you until your next successful transaction. We’re on EE4 4.6.17p.

Thanks!

Hi,

There isn’t anything built in. You could create a small function that deletes the entries directly from the database maybe via a cron job.

This is something I would recommend getting a PHP developer to do, to make sure there are enough checks and validations involved as deleting directly from a database is irreversible.

HI Dean,

So you’re saying I have to manually go in and remove all these Abandoned and Incomplete transactions? That seems rather tedious and ownerous. Why would Abandoned and Incomplete transactions count as a registration? It would seem to me that if you’re selling tickets to an event, specifically a concert, there would be no point in processing a registration if the person isn’t paying. We sell tickets to shows with online payment only. We don’t want to provide customers the options to pay later. What’s the best way to go about achieving this?

Thanks

Why would Abandoned and Incomplete transactions count as a registration?

They are displayed in the listing, but should not count towards your registration sold values.

Only ‘Approved’ registrations count towards an events sold values (and therefore towards the limits) so whilst these registrations are listed in the admin, they should not make any difference to your event.

However what default registration status are you using? Pending Payment or Approved?

You can find this within the Event Editor -> ‘Event Registration Options’

Hi Tony, thanks for the response. I have all the events set to “Pending Payment”. I’d like the only registrations that get stored to be those that have successful payment transactions if possible. It would make the book keeping with my promoters a little easier to track. Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Hi Marco, this isn’t currently possible as Event Espresso needs to record a registration before a payment can be associated.

The process begins as soon as an attendee selects a ticket / pricing option quantity and clicks Register.
