Hello,
I am putting together a conference – I want to allow registrants to either be able to (a) upload a file with their presentation on it, or (b) have a few text boxes (one for title/type of submission/abstract). I believe that option (b) is the easier option… is this doable?

Hi there!
Thank you for contacting us! We appreciate your interest in Event Espresso.
In order to allow users to upload files to their account, you will need plugins like s2member and bbPress.
I think that option (b) would be the simplest to implement because you can add custom questions to your event registration forms.
I’ll be happy to answer anymore questions you might have.

Yes, one more question. Does it matter which type of wordpress I use? Right now I have the free blog style option…

Hi,
WordPress.com is not supported. You would need a self-hosted version of WordPress. This page explains the differences between the two options:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If you are referring to using a free blog theme, then that will be fine as a premium theme is not required to use Event Espresso.
