Hello Michelle,

Registrants do not have to register or log in to the site itself in order to register, though they will have to fill out at least a name and email in order to register (more questions can be added if you wish).

Captcha forms are optional.

Event espresso currently support 35+ gateways, and you can have more than one appear at the payment page. This is a screneshot of a site with PayPal and PayPal Pro gateways activated http://d.pr/i/Y1xF

PayPal will take the user to the PayPal site to process the payment and then return them. PayPal Pro will process the payment on your site (you will need to arrange the appropriate account with PayPal and an SSL certificate is needed).

Other gateways are a mix of onsite (registrant never leaves your site to pay) and offsite (they go to the card processors site to pay), so it depends on which one/s you choose.

You may wish to have a look at the test drive options available to get a feel for the process. https://eventespresso.com/product/full-event-espresso-test-drive/

Support is mainly provided via the forums, and we aim to respond within 48 hours during business hours, though it is often much quicker than that.

“Using standard Paypal, can we redirect the customer to the Paypal page that shows the option to directly enter a credit card?”

Hi Dean, hope my message posted…we don’t have PP Pro, and don’t want the extra expense if we don’t need it…can Credit Card and Paypal payment choices display on checkout page? and they can pay with Credit card without having to run it through paypal?

Hi Michelle,

Paypal Pro allows you to accept cards directly on your site, but requires an SSL (https://). With standard Paypal, when they click the Paypal/Credit Card button on your site, they will be taken to Paypal’s site to process the payment. Once there, they can either use their Paypal account, or use their credit card without having to sign into Paypal (incase they don’t have a Paypal account).

Hope this helps.

Hi Jonathan, almost there!! email from our web developer, one more question please!

What they are saying is that without Paypal Pro, it will go to the standard Paypal page in which it is a bit difficult to find the option to pay without a credit card.

I suggest asking them a follow up question. Send them the attached screen shot asking them if the standard Paypal checkout can go to the attached page.
(from me: no where for me to attach screenshot)

Note I have this working here: https://secure.beyondthenet.com/~beyond/pay/

When you enter any amount, then hit the Paypal button, it goes to the better Paypal page.

Hi Michelle,

Having the customer fill out the credit card details on your site isn’t an option with Event Espresso when using the standard PayPal gateway. You’d need to upgrade to PayPal Pro or use another option like Stripe. Event Espresso will let you do both where you have the standard PayPal button that takes to customer’s payment info at PayPal.com or (using PayPal Pro or Stripe) they can choose to enter their payment info on your site.
