Hi, I’m considering purchasing EE to manage registration for a yearly church conference that I administrate (250-300 attendees). I have a few questions that I’m hoping I could get answered, thanks for any help! A) Is EE a theme for a WordPress site, or a plugin that I can use within an existing WP theme? I’m building a one-page site for the conference with the Brooklyn theme (http://themeforest.net/item/brooklyn-creative-one-page-multipurpose-theme/6221179); how will EE integrate into Brooklyn? B) I need to be able to offer free registration to a select group of attendees. Does EE offer the ability to enter a code or coupon to receive free (or discounted) registration? C) It seems that EE4 is the newer version of the plugin, yet I would like Mailchimp integration. Am I missing out on improved features if I choose EE3 simply to get the Mailchimp option? If so, is there any other way (other than manually) to add registrants to MailChimp in EE4? 4) I want to give registrants the option to pre-purchase conference materials along with their registration, is this possible? 5) Will EE automatically increase registration prices after an early-bird date? 6) I need to be able to do manual registrations (for mail-ins and walk-ins). Do both EE3 and EE4 do this well, or is one better? Thanks! |
Hi Cam, Thank you for considering Event Espresso, I’ll break each question do. A) Event Espresso is a plugin to be used within your site with an existing theme. The theme you linked to I have not personally tested but we do find that most ‘One-page’ themes from ThemeForest have compatibility issues with EE. ‘One-page’ themes load up the pages content via ajax which will usually not work as expected with Event Espresso although if you would like to send us a copy of the theme we can run it through testing to see if it works. B) Currently only EE3 supports Promo/Coupon codes, it is on our road map for EE4 but has not been released yet. C) This depends on your feature requirement, EE4 has more features than EE3 (although not the same features) without the mailchimp Add-on there is currently no other work around to add attendees to your MC list’s. D) Its possible to do this use different ticket options, such as 1 ticket for ‘Admission + T-Shirt’, another ‘Admission + Goody Bag’ etc although again this will depend on your requirements. E) EE3 currently include Early bird functionality, EE4 does not. Within EE3 a discount will be applied to your ticket price up until a specific date. F) Both EE3 and EE4 allow for Manual Registrations, in terms of ‘better’ it depends on what you mean by this? We also offer EE3 Test Drive and also EE4 Test Drive to allow you to demo how both versions work. Please just let me know if you need any further details. |

Thanks for your reply Tony, it looks like if my theme is compatible with EE I’m better off going with EE3. I’d like to send you the Brooklyn one-page theme for testing. I’m uploading it to my Dropbox right now, what email address should I send the file to? |
Hi Cam, We try not to post specific email addresses but if you could provide the details using this form: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Assign it to myself and I’ll take a look. |
