Hi Selina, Are you simply clicking the update button from the plugin listing within the dashboard? It sounds like there may be an issue with your sites permissions on the host, meaning that when WordPress tries to update Event Espresso it fails because it doesn’t have the correct permissions to delete, extract and copy the new update into place. Do you have access to the server error logs? If not I would recommend issuing a ticket with your hosting company to have them check the permissions within your site. |

Thanks. I have contacted them. Is there any chance you can get it back up and running again in the interim? |
Hi Selina, Please use this form and we’ll need both a temporary SFTP / FTP login and a temporary WP dashboard (WP-admin) login. https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ We’ll notify you once it is running again so you can deactivate the temporary login information. Thanks — |

Hi, I contacted my server and they have told me that my max upload has been increased from 8MB to 50MB which should solve the problem. |
Hi Selina,
Event Espresso is a little over 4MB to download, so this will not help at all. EE uses the standard build in core functionality for updates so although you are updating EE, it is your server that is doing the work, we basically tell WordPress where to check for updates, tell it to download the update and leave it to it. So if a problem comes up with the update it is usually an issue with the site/server setup more so than Event Espresso itself as EE has very little to do with the actually updating process itself. I can take a look over your site and see if I can see any errors but it is likely you will need to contact your over this again. Can you send login details using this link please: https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/ Note we’ll need both WP-Admin and FTP credentials. |

Hi Selina, Event Espresso should be back up and running on your site now. I noticed WordPress was still actually in Maintenance mode (your site had a file called .maintenance) so I’ve removed this and then found your server was set to display errors publicly (which it started to do once out of Maintenance mode) so I added some rules to your wp-config.php file to prevent that. I don’t know what host you are using, but I would advise you either look into find another more reliable company to move your site to or have them double and triple check your site is set up correctly. I had problems installing Event Espresso through the dashboard and needed to use FTP, that combined with the above points to a poorly configured server which is likely causing your update problems. |
