I called my hosting and they said that this plugin is messing it up. What do I do to fix this? |
Hi Josh, This isn’t much for us to work with. Do you know what is being messed up and how it’s exhibiting signs of being messed up? Any information you can relay will help, including which version of WP and Event Espresso you have installed. Also, please check that your host meets the requirements listed on this page: |

Can I give you a log in so you can look at it? |
|
And I am using plugin version 4.6.11 and wordpress 4.1.1 |
|
My site (and hosting) was slowed to a stand still so I contacted godaddy and they said that this plugin was coming up with a lot of errors and suggested I deactivate it. |
|
Hi Josh, Can you provide a link to your site please? Can you advise what type of hosting you are using (shared, VPS, dedicated)? Please also provide some more information about the errors, ideally screenshots or copy and paste of the exact errors occurring. Without more information it is very hard for us to help you find a resolution to what is happening. |

There really isn’t anything to put into a screen shot. The site just wouldn’t load. I am on shared hosting with godaddy. When I called them about the site being slow they told me that the event espresso plugin was throwing a lot of errors(they didn’t tell me what those were) and then they deactivated it for me and now the site is working fine. Hi Josh, Whilst trying to view your site the page timed out 3 times and then eventually loaded although extremely slowly. Taking over 20 seconds per page load. As Event Espresso is currently de-activated this isn’t an issue with Event Espresso itself. I would once again contact GoDaddy and have them investigate this, as you are using shared hosting your site is effected by traffic/load on the other sites that are on the same server as yours. Whilst requesting they investigate this I would also request more information on the previous errors they mentioned, if they can provide the error log (or details for you to download this from your account and send it to us) we can investigate any issues with Event Espresso. Although as mentioned the site is currently struggling as is without Event Espresso activated, so I suspect this is an issue with the server. |

Alright I will check back with them and find out why its still slow. How do I update the plugin without losing my data? |
Your event/registrant data is all stored within the database so you can de-activate and delete Event Espresso without losing any data. Where this does not apply is if you have modified the plugins code at all (not an issue if you have not) So normally you can use the automatic updates, as you currently do not have EE actived you’ll need to do this manually. Go to Dashboard -> Plugins. Delete Event Espresso. Grab the latest version from your account page On your site go to Dashboard -> Plugins -> Add new -> Upload plugin. Browse for the file you have just downloaded from your accoutn pages and upload it. You have then install the latest version of EE. |
|
Also to note, it is always advisable to create a site backup before running updates (not just Event Espresso but any updates) The most important backup is the database, we have a guide on how to manually backup your site here: Although there are multiple plugins available to help do this. For example BackUpWordPress |
