I had a site running version 3. Bought 4, installed 4 could not figure out how to switch from decaf to regular. Upgraded my databases from 3 to 4. Deactivated all Espresso plugins. Tried the installed it failed. I am stuck, tired, and not in the mood to search around your site for an answer.

Hi there,

Bought 4, installed 4 could not figure out how to switch from decaf to regular.

Decaf and regular are 2 different plugins, so you need to install Regular or if you add your license key in Event Espresso -> General Settings and your account has access to regular, decaf will show an update which will then install regular for you.

Upgraded my databases from 3 to 4. Deactivated all Espresso plugins. Tried the installed it failed.

If you ran the migration on your database you already have a version of Event Espresso installed, but then the install failed?

Can you let me know what failed and did it show an error?

If you go to Dashboard -> Plugins, do you have Event Espresso listed there? If so whats the full version number of the version your have installed?

I try to activate version 4.9.35, when I do all I see it is in maintenance mode. Here is the message.
Event Espresso is in full maintenance mode.
A previous version of Event Espresso has detected. But before anything else can happen, we need to know whether or not to migrate (copy over) your existing event data so that it can be utilized by EE4. For more instructions on what to do, please visit the Event Espresso Maintenance page.

I have done the database migration four times now. I guess I will do it a fifth. I am sorry I thought this was going to be a lot easier.

I was going to send you a screenshot but cannot find any where to upload a file so I copied the text. Here is a copy of everything:

I am not deleting any plug-in without you saying it is ok, I do not want to lose data.

I lied I am going to have to try deleting and hope I do not lose any data. If I remember I will update after I remove all of the plug-ins I cannot tell what versions are new and which are old. I have the customer wanting this site working.

When deleting EE (or any of its add-ons) you do not lose data, WP may show a confirmation message that does state you may lose data, however, it’s up to the plugin to actually remove the data and we do not.

So first, remove Event Espresso 4 Decaf, you don’t need it, it’s basically a stripped down version of Event Espresso 4, as you have the full version you don’t need that one.

All of the add-ons listed there are for EE3, EE3 add-ons are not compatible with EE4 so you need the EE4 versions but let’s get EE4 up and running first.

De-activate all of the add-ons so you just have Event Espresso 4 core running.

I try to activate version 4.9.35, when I do all I see it is in maintenance mode.

I’m guessing by your plugin list you meant 4.9.53 rather than .35

Maintenance mode is expected, you need to migrate your data over from either EE3 or an older version of EE4.

I have done the database migration four times now. I guess I will do it a fifth. I am sorry I thought this was going to be a lot easier.

Did you follow the instructions and run through ALL of the migrations? The data needs to migrate multiple times, you can do that all in one go but there are multiple steps to the migration, did you run through them all?

I was going to send you a screenshot but cannot find any where to upload a file so I copied the text.

Not worried about the screenshots. On the last data migration I got a Data Migration error. I sent the dump to support @ evente

The migration log doesn’t show any errors?

I checked on your site and it looks like Event Espresso is running so the migration must have finalized.

Do you have your previous event and registration data shown within Event Espresso -> Events and Event Espresso -> Registrations?

OK, when I go to Event Espresso -> Maintenance I see the following error.
Data Migration Error
Your last Database Update had a FATAL ERROR, and CANNOT be continued.

Is this something I need to worry about? If not I think the ticket can be closed.

Hmm, strange.

I spent some time going over your migration log and cant see any cause.

Can I take a quick look at the report in the admin? If so you can send temporary login details using this form:
