I’m getting the error at the top of event espresso in wordpress:

Event Espresso recommends PHP version 5.4.44 or greater for optimal performance. You are currently running version 5.4.43.

When I check my site, I’m actually runing php version 5.6.29.

Why is this message still appearing

You can dismiss the message. Also, if you go to Event Espresso > Maintenance > System Information, you can find the PHP version that your server is reporting there.
