Hiya

I am busy creating a new site using wordpress 4.6.

The standards posts I have given the prefix /news/ using the custom permalink setting. I have two custom posts they work great with their prefix matching the custom post.

The issue I have is with the event list. It is prefixing the http://www.mysite.com/eventlist with http://www.mysite.com/news/eventlist as well as the subsequent event detail pages (where I would like it to be http://www.mysite.com/eventlist).

The other issue is that the eventlist is using index.php and the event detail is using single.php (are the standard ee templates? that i may download and add to the theme to then bespoke e.g. single-ee-detail.php????)

Hi there,

I’m afraid that all of the posts on your site (event posts included) will have /news/ in the URL when you add /news/ to the custom permalink settings.

You can make it so only standard posts get the /news/ prefix by changing your permalink setting to be
/%category%/%postname%/
then you go to Posts > Categories, and set the default category to be News. This way when you create a new WP post, it will automatically have the /news/ prefix in the URL.

The other issue is that the eventlist is using index.php and the event detail is using single.php (are the standard ee templates? that i may download and add to the theme to then bespoke e.g. single-ee-detail.php????)

What actually happens is Event Espresso adds its content to the front end of the website via the_content() filter, so you don’t need to set up custom templates. Also, since there really isn’t any standardization of the template structure between each WordPress theme, it’s not really possible to make a bespoke EE template that will “just work” with any theme out there.

You can follow the guide in our documentation that outlines how to set up custom templates for displaying events:
