Recently we have not been able to have both GeoDirectory and EE enabled at the same time due to being, what we believe, a permalink conflict.

GeoDirectory places & events return a 404 (website.com/events/slug and website.com/places/slug) for the default permalink settings, while EE has a custom slug (website.com/festival/slug) as per the instructions here:
https://eventespresso.com/wiki/change-events-cpt-slug/

Technically this should work however EE seems to be messing with GeoDirectory’s own permalinks setup.

Have changed slugs, disabled and re-enabled, and flushed permalinks multiple times. No errors in the log files are to be found.

And installed and looked at Permalink Manager Lite which looks all fine.

Suggestions?

And to add:

Setting GeoDirecotry permalink options to “Full location” or “Full location with category” seems to return the listing but anything else does not.
We can’t set that as the option as all the listings are already indexed as the default slug option.

When new plugin is installed, you need to go to your wordpress dashboard and resave the permalink settings, WordPress regenerates the necessary rewrite rules and flushes the existing permalink cache. This ensures that any changes or updates you have made to your permalinks structure are applied correctly.

Dashboard->setting->permalinks->save Changes.

let me know if it work.

thanks

Hi Rio,

Yes, we saved/flushed permalinks multiple times during all the tests we ran. This did not fix the issue.

GeoDirectory is not a newly installed plugin on this site, and EE was also already installed and was working before.

Are there special log files or settings we need to be aware of?

Hi there,

GeoDirectory is not a newly installed plugin on this site, and EE was also already installed and was working before.

OK, so EE worked previously and I’m assuming this started happening after an update? Do you know which version?

Can you send me a copy of GeoDirectory I can install locally to see if I can reproduce this?

Rolling back to EE v5.0.7 works, but updating to v5.0.8 breaks the permalinks for GeoDirectory.

GeoDirectory can be downloaded from: https://wordpress.org/plugins/geodirectory/

I’m going to reproduce your issue. But can you do this?

Please re-download EE5.0.8 and install it. Let me know if this fix your issue.
