We have just migrated from an earlier version of EE that applied discounts to each person registered. I understand EE4 no longer has this feature and discounts now apply to the total amount. That poses a problem for us as we are foundationally structured to offer discounts to groups of 3 or more at one price point (per person) and 6 or more at another. In order to get to a $10pp or $20pp discount we have to use the percent discount option. Here’s our issue: we can’t get to $10, $20, etc. without breaking the %discount down to the thousandths (EXAMPLE: 5.025%) which EE4 also won’t allow. How do we apply a $10, $20 or $30 per person discount to groups based on the number they register?

Hi there,

Currently, the only way to change prices on tickets based on qty is to use ticket bundles:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/create-ticket-bundle/

Which allows you to create specific ticket prices based on qty and then register groups onto tickets at those prices.

If you are looking to do fixed price discounts such as $10/20pp could you not use fixed discounts in the promotions system? For example if you have a group of 5 tickets and want to discount $10pp, create a $50 fixed discount and apply it to the transaction?

We tested that option today. Issue: EE’s system doesn’t recognize if the number of registrants chosen is less than that set in the quantity bundle. I set a discounted price for a group of 4 or more but then registered 2 people. EE didn’t recognize that 2 people doesn’t qualify for the bundle so it allowed me to proceed. Thoughts?

How did you register for 2 people on a bundle ticket?

You set the Min and Max qty of the bundle to X (let’s continue with 4), so the user can’t select less than 4.

Clearly I did this incorrectly. So let me go back to the table and try it again!

Hmm yeah, I see.

So currently, the only way you’ll be able to offer group discounts like that is using the Bundle Tickets option above.
