We are using People Admin to add our Instructors, then we also made use of WordPress Custom Fields for some additional information. However, we are no longer able to see the Custom Fields or the screen options to even enable custom fields, they seemed to have disappeared.
I understand what you mean, WordPress custom fields are a core function, we enable them when we register the custom post type within EE so they should always be visible.
The fact that they aren’t in the screen options for you means you could have a capabilities issue or something has removed them. The most common is ACF as it removes the default meta box in place of its own, but then if you don’t enable ACF on Custom Post Types you end up with no custom fields and no ACF.
Ok, so if you have ACF installed it will remove the WordPress custom fields by default.
You can either, create a new field group within ACF to display within the People post type, OR if you have already use WP custom fields and wont to continue to use those on EE people you can use a snippet like this:
