Hello,

We are using the Flexible Payment Method so everyone can register free online, then pay at the door when they arrive. This way, no payment is collected online.

However, we are getting a good percent of people who try and register but end up with a “Pending Payment Registration” status. Why is this?

All registrations by default are set to “approved”

Hi there,

It usually means they are not selecting a payment method and then clicking to finalize the registrations at the end. For the Default Registration Status (DRS for short) of Approved to work the registrant must select their payment method and then finalize.

Can you link me to an event I can run a coupe of tests on?

I should note that the Flexible Payment Method is selected by default, so there shouldn’t be a problem.

Although the Payment method is selected that doesn’t mean the user actually clicks the button, they may simply stop here: http://take.ms/ZBEN0

I’ve added 2 registrations, one (the approved one) finalized the registration, the other stopped in the above location.

That second one is pending payment correct?

One issue I can see is there is a JavaScript error being thrown on the page the touchy plugin: http://take.ms/RUiFO

That is preventing the text for the Flexible payment method from displaying, like this – http://take.ms/irWMB
(that’s from clicking on ‘Pay at event’)

I’d recommend fixing that and then adding some additional text to the Flexible payment method info stating that users need to click the finalize button.

Yes, correct – the second one is pending payment.

Ok, so this appears to be a user problem because they aren’t finalizing the checkout by clicking on the “complete my registration” button?

That’s correct. Their registration’s status gets switched to Approved when they click on the “Complete my registration” button.

How do I edit this text?
“Important information regarding your payment”

You can change the above and any other text by using one of the methods outlined in this guide:

Another option to changing the core string “Important information regarding your payment” is you can set the ‘Description’ field for the Flexible payment method – http://take.ms/nxlLs

That will then display within that section like this – http://take.ms/7TXvE
