Paypal Standard Gateway Sending multiple duplicate emails

Hi,

When I try to process a payment through the Paypal Standard gateway the person who booked is sent multiple duplicate Event Payment Detail emails. I’m not ( I don’t believe) running any caching plugins.

Any ideas how I can stop so many mails being sent?

Hi Andrew,

Can you check the Message Activity list table in Event Espresso > Messages? Are there multiple duplicate emails listed there or just one for each email that should be going out with no duplicates?

Hi Andrew,

I’m afraid we have no ideas on how to make those stop without knowing what’s actually causing the duplicates to happen in the first place. Would it be possible for you to send some temporary access to the site? If so, you can complete the secure form on this page:

I think I’ve sent the form with login details for my WP dashboard – trouble is it’s not returned any confirmation that it’s sent – so please let me know that it’s got to you,

Hi Andrew,

We haven’t received anything from you as of now. When you go to fill out the form, it will not send unless all of the required fields are completed, so that may have been why it didn’t send.

Hi Andrew,

Just before it started sending the multiple duplicate emails, did you deactivate the PayPal Standard payment method? The reason I ask is because there are dozens of payment log entries that say the Payment Method no longer exists around the same time those duplicate emails were sent. I wonder if what happened was the IPN was being received by your site, but if the Payment method was deactivated, no receipt response was sent back so PayPal just kept sending more IPNs.

So if you re-activate the PayPal Standard payment method now, then run another test transaction, but then leave the payment method activated, does it only send the one payment received message?

Hi Josh,

that seems to have done it – though I’m sure I turned off Paypal Standard because I was sending multiple duplicate mails!

So does it still send duplicate emails when you test now?
