Hi I have EE4 (4.8.25.p) running on a staging server. I’ve configured the PayPal Pro payment method in debug mode, using credentials from a PayPal Pro Sandbox account. It looks fine, but when I go to submit I get the message “No response received from PayPal Pro” I’ve checked the server and I can access a number of URLs using cURL. Would anyone have any ideas how I can debug this problem further? Thanks Matt |
Hi Matt! You are running an old version of Event Espresso. I’ll share steps on how to update below. Are you using any maintenance mode plugins that could block the communication between your staging site and the PayPal servers? Important: Please backup your WordPress (https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-back-up-your-site/) before making any changes. If your support license is activated for Event Espresso then you can perform a one-click update through the WordPress Plugins screen in your WP-admin (WP dashboard) after backing up your site. If your support license is not activated, then please see the steps below for information on how to manually update. Download the latest version of your Event Espresso software from your account that has a support license. Now login to your WordPress admin and go to Plugins. Locate Event Espresso in the list of plugins and deactivate it and remove it. Then from the Plugins screen in the WordPress admin click on Add New –> Upload. Then browse to the zip file that you downloaded from your account. Select it and begin the upload process. You can activate Event Espresso after it has finished. — |

Hi, that’s great, thank you. I’ll download the latest versions and try. |

Hi Lorenzo It’s not activated as its on a development domain at the moment. I’ve updated to 4.8.31.p (I don’t think that any other plugins need updating), it’s running WordPress 4.3.1, there are no maintenance mode plugins enabled. It’s running on a fairly standard Linux VPS with Parallels Plesk on it. I’ve tested that the server can connect to other domains using Curl, I don’t get any feedback trying the PayPal URLs from the plugin. Are there any further things that you think I should check? Should it work on localhost if I were to try the site on my local server? Thanks Matt |
Hi Matt, If your localhost has cURL enabled it will work. You can also try deactivating all other WP plugins on the dev server to rule out any plugin conflicts. |

Hi We think that we have traced this problem to using cURL with https, the live server is PHP 5.3.3, the dev server is PHP 5.6.10. I know that this is not really your responsibility, but would you have any suggestions on how to resolve this issue? Thanks Matt |
