We upgraded to Event Espresso – 4.7.5.p yesterday. Since then, not one PayPal payment has connected to ticket sales. The registration will show as pending payment. The only way we know how many tickets have sold for each event is to look at transactions in PayPal then compare to the event registrations. Then we have to mark them as approved.
Is this an issue with 4.7.5? Is there a way to get payments to show again?
It turns out PayPal has been having some issues with its Instant Payment Notifications all week. Can you go to Event Espresso > Payment Methods > Logs and check the paypal logs there?
If you can check, you may see an error like this:
IPN Validation failed! Paypal responded with ' Internal Server Error Internal Server Error - Read The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Reference #3.262c1ab8.1435850522.4c2f1dd '
Yes I am seeing that. Is there anything that can be done? I have to make sure events aren’t oversold and I’d rather not spend my days watching PayPal and comparing every single transaction.
We were seeing the same errors up until a few hours ago. Here are a few options:
1) You can switch to another more reliable payment service like Stripe.
2) You can run a test right now to see if PayPal transactions are still throwing the error. We’ve been testing throughout the day noticed that the IPN has been working for the past couple of hours.
Yes, this is usually the case, and Stripe is a great choice because it’s very reliable.
