Hi Guys.

Many Paypal transactions are not being registered via EE4. We’re using v4.6.14 with only the Paypal standard payment method enabled. This is making it very difficult for us to work out which bookings are completed and how many tickets are actually available. This is critical for us as we’re booking 15+ events simultaneously with limited admin resources. Please can someone help us to determine why so many Paypal payments are not being recorded.

Many thanks,

Richard

Hi Richard,

Within your PayPal account do you have auto return enabled?

Do you see these registrations within the event registration list? If so what is the status of the registration and the associated transaction of one of those?

Hi Tony,
I’ve checked the paypal settings and ensured that auto return is enabled although in doing so I noticed that the transactions page on the site was registering a 404. I’ve set up a new transactions page which seems to work fine. I guess this may well have been the issue. Registrations are being listed in the system with status ‘payment pending’ although this isn’t always the case as occasionally payments go through. Do you think the transactions page is likely to have been the issue?

There is one more thing that you might be able to help me with. Currently EE seems to be counting registrations in its stats that are not appearing at all in the list of registrants (or any transactions). This is making the reporting features pretty much unusable as they don’t seem to represent actual registrations. For example, ‘the economics of happiness’ event has 9 registrations in the total registrations report but none in the registrations list. Any idea what’s causing this?

Thanks

Richard

Yes, the transactions page is the IPN ‘listening’ page.

So when PayPal send the IPN to your site, it is that page that process that request and updates the registration/transaction details.

I’ll take a look into the registration stats on your site.

Ok I see the issue.

Incomplete registrations are included within those reports.

If you go to the registration list for that event, within the filters you’ll see a link for Incomplete registrations – http://take.ms/sTtvd

I have created a ticket for some developer feedback on this and will update this thread with any info.

Hi Tony,

Thanks. We’d be really keen to get feedback and a resolution on the reporting issue as this is a piece of functionality that we were counting on to give us an accurate overview of registrations.

Many thanks for your swift response and excellent support today.

I look forward to the additional feedback.

Richard
