Greetings,

I ran into an issue with a customer attempting to perform a PayPal payment which caused them to see a stack trace as opposed to a friendly error message. This appeared to only affect this one transaction which had both a manual credit and a promotion code tied to it. To get the customer past this issue I had to have them do a manual payment through PayPal and I then added it as another credit.

Here are the images from the issue. I just want to figure out what caused it and how to prevent it in the future.

Error stack trace:

Their transactions at the time of stack trace:

Let me know. Thank you!

Hi,

I looked into this and it appears to be an issue with the PayPal Smart buttons gateway where it doesn’t calculate the correct amount when there’s a certain amount of partial payment and a certain amount of discount. I’ve opened an issue with a developer to fix this.

If you anticipate more transactions like this one, you could use the regular “PayPal Express” gateway instead, or add as an option to use in the meantime.

Thank you for looking into it. Luckily this is more of an edge case I think so I hope it won’t come up frequently.
