Paypal IPN too slow?

I’m having an issue with Paypal IPN on the confirmation page.

I think it is too slow to go from Paypal, so when people are getting to the “Thank You” page it is showing payment incomplete and they are paying again and I am having to do a lot of manual refunds!

Is there anything I can do about this? For a work around I’ve added some text asking people to refresh in 30 seconds – which then shows payment completed.

But perhaps there is a better solution?

Hi Matt,

I would recommend installing the simplified Transactions page template available here:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-set-up-paypal-ipn/#troubleshooting

It is a page template that removes all of your themes styling for the IPN listening page which is ‘Transactions’. You upload this to your theme and then edit the transaction page, selecting the page template for that page.

This helps ensure your site can process the IPN as quickly as possible once it has been received from PayPal. Unfortunately as the IPN’s are sent from PayPal’s servers there is little we/you can do to speed these up.

Where exactly do I upload the template file to?
I’ve tried uploads and espresso>templates

Neither worked.

OK found it – inside the theme folder for anyone else.

Hi Matt,

As mentioned above you’ll need to upload this to your sites theme.

If you go to /wp-content/themes/ you’ll see a directory for whichever theme you are using. Place the file within there.

For example here is a site running twentyfourteen – http://take.ms/amvZn

Once the file is placed within your theme, you’ll see something like this when you edit the page – http://take.ms/FYvvR
